Ingredients

2cupsall-purpose flour
4teaspoonsbaking powder
0.5teaspoonbaking soda

0.5cupcold unsalted butter1 stick, cubed
1.3cupsbuttermilk
1eggwhisked with 2 Tbsp water or milk for egg wash

Preheat your oven to 325°F (220°C).

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, , , and .

Add the cold butter cubes to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness. Then fold into layers 5 to 6 times. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush with wash.
