A tender, delicious, and straightforward braised pork belly dish that is incredibly flavorful and perfect served over steamed rice.

Ingredients

  • 1.5lbsSkin On Pork Bellycut into large cubes
  • Waterfor blanching
  • 2tbspOil
  • 2tbspBrown Sugar
  • 1Cinnamon Stick
  • 3Bay Leaves
  • 3Star Anise
  • 3cupsWaterenough to cover the pork
  • 2tbspSoy Sauce
  • 2tbspDark Soy Sauce
  • 3tbspShao Xing Winecan substitute with Mirin, Dry Sherry, or Chicken Stock
  • 2tbspFish Sauceoptional
  • 1tbspOyster Sauceoptional
  • 2stalksGreen Onionscut into large pieces
  • 6clovesGarliccrushed
  • knobGingersliced (optional)
  • 1tspMSGoptional
  • Steamed White Ricefor serving
  • Sliced Scallionsfor garnish

Method

    Blanch the pork belly cubes in for 10 minutes.

    In a pot, heat and together, stirring until it looks like caramel.

    Add the , , , and enough to cover the pork into the pot.
